I live in Orlando, so for tips I would just say be prepared for a lot of rain and brutal summer heat. But the beaches are great if you can beat the crowd. It’s a pretty relaxed city and downtown is not all that big but there are some really great spots around. Too bad the only real sports team here is the Magic. Congrats!

Brilliant. Wonderful. Rian Johnson’s The Brothers Bloom is one of those rare films that I’ve rented from Netflix that I feel that I just must add to my personal collection so that I can pull it out anytime I get a whim to watch it.
Like Johnson’s previously (and almost as brilliant) film Brick, The Brothers Bloom has a labyrinthine plot that almost demands multiple viewings just so that you can take it all in. But then you realize that the movie isn’t really about plot at all, but about the people involved. It doesn’t matter what happens, really, but who it happens to.
I love that Johnson has made two films that, while both being incredible, couldn’t be more different in style and story (and his next is reportedly a sci-fi film). When a director is this good, any genre that he chooses to tackle will be better for it.
I just got this from Netflix yesterday and I couldn’t agree with this post more. I was a bit skeptical about it from the trailer but I had heard good things. It’s a great film that keeps you intrigued throughout. Mark Ruffalo is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors to watch. I’ll admit that I haven’t seen Brick, but it’s been staring at me from my Netflix instant que for a while and after seeing what Rian Johnson has done with his 2nd feature, I will definitely be making room in my schedule to see it.
